Product information
Class 8.8 is the workhorse structural bolt grade: quenched and tempered medium carbon steel, roughly twice the tensile strength of a 4.8 bolt of the same diameter. The grade is stamped on the head, so what is in the joint can be checked after installation rather than trusted from the delivery note.
These are ordinary hex head bolts rather than a connection set — they are used where the connection detail calls for a specific bolt, nut and washer combination chosen by the designer. Full thread or part thread, coarse or fine pitch, all to the drawing.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between 8.8 and 10.9?
Tensile and yield strength, and the alloy. 10.9 is alloy steel with a higher preload; 8.8 is carbon steel and is the default for most building connections.
Can galvanized 8.8 bolts be used in slip-critical joints?
Only if the slip factor has been established for that coating and the project allows it. Plain or phosphated is the usual choice for slip-critical work.
