Product information
A sag rod keeps a purlin from twisting and sagging between frames. It is a round bar with a thread rolled at each end, passed through the purlin web and tensioned with nuts on both sides, so the line of purlins behaves as a braced run rather than a series of separate members.
The same family covers wall girts, cross bracing and the tie rods used in ground-mounted PV frames, where the rod holds the rail spacing against wind uplift. Bar diameter, thread length and the number of purlins crossed come from the roof or array layout.

Frequently asked questions
How long should the thread be?
Enough to take the nut, a washer and the tensioning travel — typically 80–120 mm per end. Too short and the rod cannot be pulled up.
Are these used on solar mounting?
Yes, on ground-mounted frames as tie rods between rails. The array layout sets the spacing and the rod length.
