Product information

A double-end stud carries a thread at each end and a plain shank in the middle. In power work it joins a fitting to a busbar or a clamp to a post insulator, where the joint has to be made from both sides and the unthreaded centre sets the gap.

Thread length at each end, overall length and the shank diameter are the three dimensions that decide the fit. Studs are produced to the drawing, and the two ends can carry different thread lengths where one side takes a jam nut.

Frequently asked questions

Can the two ends have different thread lengths?

Yes, that is the usual reason for a double-end stud rather than a threaded rod. Give both end lengths on the drawing.

Is a threaded rod the same thing?

No. A threaded rod is threaded over its full length and is cut to size; a double-end stud has a defined plain shank and fixed lengths, so it seats to a shoulder.
