Product information
A torsional shear bolt carries a splined extension on the threaded end. An electric or pneumatic wrench grips both the nut and the spline and turns them against each other; when the shank reaches its design preload, the spline shears at the notch. The break is the proof of tension, so the joint does not depend on an operator reading a torque value.
That makes TC sets the usual choice for site work where access is awkward and torque control is hard to verify. The set is supplied as bolt, nut and hardened washer, matched so the shearing torque and the preload stay in step.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know the bolt is tight enough?
The spline shears off when the preload is reached — that is the indicator. If the spline has not sheared, the joint is not tightened.
Can a sheared bolt be reused?
No. Once the spline has gone there is nothing left to drive, and the set is discarded. Order a small percentage of spares for site breakage.
Can TC and hex bolts be mixed in one joint?
Not within the same connection. The two types reach preload differently, and the design assumes one method throughout.
